Table Mountain was officially inaugurated as a New7Wonder of Nature yesterday, Sunday December 2 2012 and what an auspicious occasion it was.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who voted, the world over, to have Table Mountain named as an official New7Wonder of Nature.

The local and international delegates were in awe of Table Mountain and certainly made sure to gush about her magnificent beauty.

“Wow, Table Mountain is like a temple,” said one of the delegates from Komodo.

The delegates were, however, treated to another magnificent beauty in the form of the opulent Taj Cape Town during their stay in Cape Town.

Located in the cultural heart of the historic city, the Taj guests are within walking distance of everything they need to have an authentic Cape Town experience, including restaurants and bars, museums, boutiques and art galleries.

“What I really like about it, is that it is so close to everything, there are so many places you can walk to from here. It’s a very lovely hotel,” said one of the New7Wonders Foundation employees.

Offering 176 rooms and 11 types of room to choose from, the Taj Cape Town was the perfect and luxurious home away from home for the New7Wonders of Nature delegates and the views of Table Mountain were enough to ensure they were always reminded of her beauty.

Housed in two of the Mother City’s historic buildings, the Taj combines old-world elegance with modern-day luxury, which offers guests distinguished Indian hospitality blended with Cape Town flavour.

The Taj retains the grand architecture of the original South African Reserve Bank and the BoE building (formerly the Temple Chambers built in 1890).

Taj Cape Town Director of Sales and Marketing Willie Williams oversaw the delegates while they were in Cape Town.

“The City of Cape Town and Table Mountain’s Official Supporters’ Committee, the hosts of these events, required an accommodation partner, and approached us based on our central location and world-class facilities,” said Taj Cape Town Director of Sales and Marketing Willie Williams.

“We are privileged to live in a city so rife with beauty and culture, and to be located at the foot of a newly crowned wonder of nature is just incredible”, said Williams.

Delegates were so impressed with Taj Cape Town, the service they received and the gorgeous views of Table Mountain that there were even whispers of returning in the future.
