Capetonians are lucky enough to enjoy beautiful views of the mountain every day. They'll also tell you that there's nothing quite like the view from the top. Photo courtesy mallix
South Africans, especially Capetonians are among the luckiest people in the world, with a national park within city limits and two World Heritage Sites: the Cape Floral Region (which includes Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and Cape Point) and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. The Cape Floral Region is a stretch of land and sea spanning 90 000 square kilometres, and is one of the richest plant kingdoms in the world. The city has a wide range of attractions and Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is one of the world’s top visitor experiences.
Here are some excellent opportunities for locals to take advantage of throughout the year. Check the Specials section for updated deals.

This is a message from Elizabeth Erasmus who enjoyed her birthday on Table Mountain:

School holidays are a fantastic time to visit the Cableway. During the long summer holidays, the Dassie Den at the top of the mountain comes alive with activities including puppet, magic and pick-a-box shows, face painting, and balloon sculpting and craft activities. Parents can relax in the nearby lounge where light refreshments are available. The play area is open daily from 9h00 until 16h00.
At Christmas, Father Christmas and the Christmas Fairy have been known to visit the Cableway, and during the 2009 June school holidays a Yeti was spotted for the first time on Table Mountain.

Seasonal specials
Every winter the Cableway motivates us to get outside and enjoy Cape Town’s clear winters. The winter special offers two free children’s tickets for every adult return ticket purchased. This special is valid over weekends, public holidays and June/September (Western Cape) school holidays. Visit the Specials page for the winter special dates.
The Cableway also offers an incredible Summer Sunset special each year. This generally starts at the beginning of November and runs to the end of February. For four months, you pay half-price on adult and child (aged 4 to 17) return tickets, from 18h00. This is a great way to spend the long summer evenings, especially after a hard day at work or school.
Sunset special tickets can be purchased at the Cableway’s Ticket Office from 18h00 and are not available to buy online.
This is the feedback from one local customer:
“I brought my two boys up after a day at work in an aircon office, and them from school. We had a good walk and really enjoyed the spectacular view and fresh air. All the staff members had great energy! Keep advertising and keep up with the specials for us locals.”
Celebrate New Year’s Eve on the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway half-price offer includes New Year’s Eve each year. On New Year’s Eve the last trip up is at 11pm and the last trip down is at 1am.
