Photos: Snow on Table Mountain blesses 2010 FIFA World Cup™
Table Mountain turned into a snow-capped winter wonderland on Tuesday, June 15. “When we opened the Cableway this morning we noticed that there was a light dusting of snow on the pathways and viewing decks,” said Table Mountain Cableway CEO Sabine Lehmann.
“It looks just like a winter wonderland and it lets us see the mountain in a completely different light. It’s an absolute blessing, especially for locals who don’t get to see snow very often,” said Lehmann. “It’s also particularly special today as we haven’t seen snow for about two years.”
Speaking of winter wonderlands – today would be a great day to bring the kids up to spend some time in the snow. Our winter family special – and the Winter Wonderland Activity Centre – has a lot to offer, and with the snowflakes it’s bound to be a fairy-tale experience.

Wow!!
oh my word - stunning!!! i love it!
I wish I was there!
So much for global warming! In my home city, Montreal, we would not even notice this “dusting.” Our average total winter snowfall is 8 to 10 feet. Comes in November and stays until April.
Enjoy!

Wow that is beautiful,
snow on table mountain>>> can you belive it???
I WAS THERE! Most people don’t know that if you are a South African resident and produce your ID on your birthday, you go up for free. My twin sister and I have been celebrating our birthday on the mountain for a few years now, but 2010 was the best. When the ticket officer said “It’s snowing up there” we replied “Ja, well, no fine”. What a treat, and made all the more wonderful by visitors from around the world, enjoying our beautiful country.
I was there too with some UK visitors via the cableway.
It was fantastic, even though I have been on top of mountain already by hiking with a club of children, and celebrating our wedding anniversary with a milk tart and a bottle of champagne. It is a fantastic view of the V&A Waterfront and Stadium.Yes its fabulous to be able to go up for free with your birthday but it should also be affordable as a SA citizen at any time
Table Mountain has always been an awesome attraction for me and ever since my husband proposed on the mountain, we try to get there from PE at least once a year to celebrate! We were there on his birthday in March and we have an oppurtunity to get to Cape Town some time in August, we hope it will be on my birthday, which is the same day as our wedding anniversary to celebrate on our special spot!!Will probably buy a ticket if its not on my birthday anyway tho. Well worth the ticket price!!!Would love to have seen the snow…must have been spectacular!
wow i wish to visit the table mountain on the 03/09/2010 when i come to the mother city.
