New Year’s Eve on Table Mountain

If you’re looking to ring in the new year from a unique vantage point, the top of Table Mountain offers the perfect experience. From up high, you can put 2011 to rest and welcome 2012 – come make some fresh resolutions (or not!) and absorb the exquisite natural surroundings while getting an eyeful of beautiful Cape Town. Our Sunset Special and meal offerings will complete the enchanted last sunset of 2011.

The last car up on December 31, 2011 is at 23h00, and the last car down is at 01h00 on January 1, 2012.

With the Sunset Special, adults pay R97.50 and children only pay R47.50 for a return ticket.

Visitors can bring their own bubbly and picnics with them, or grab a seat at the Table Mountain Café, which will extend its operating hours until 00h30 on January 1, 2012

I WOULD LOVE TO GO ON THE CABLECAR BUT DIDNT EVERYBODY BUY OUT ALL THE TICKETS ONLINE?NEW YEARS IS THE DAY IM FREE SO COULD YOU SKEEZE ME IN PLEASE.

Hi Marshe. If you are unable to make this purchase, it means online tickets, which are limited per day, are sold out. You can still get your tickets at the ticket office here at the Lower Cable Station on the day.

If you are thinking of going up the mountain on new years please have a backup plan because these people decide to close the cable car way without notice

Hello there - we only close if the weather doesn’t permit us to operate , usually due to strong or gale-force winds. We never intend on inconveniencing out visitors, and always put our visitors’ safety first. A back up plan is a good idea, yes. Thanks for the suggestion.

We got about 7 friends here and we planning to bring a small table for the picnic and count down, would that fit in one cableway cart?
Would we be able to see fireworks?
Is there a designated area for picnics?

Hi Ali - yes, online tickets are sold out. You can still purchase tickets from the ticket office at the Lower Cable Station.
