Holiday cheer on Table Mountain this season

The holiday season is upon us!

To add to the excitement of family outings and activities that make the festive season unforgettable, Table Mountain Cableway has put together some wonderfully jovial experiences.

Activities for kids, festive season happenings and New Years plans – we’ve got it covered!

School holiday programme

From Saturday, December 10, 2011 to Sunday, January 15, 2012, children visiting the Cableway will receive a 20-page activity booklet that includes games, Did You Knows?, things to do at home and a treasure hunt on Table Mountain.

Roaming characters will pop up at the top station to entertain children between 11am and 1pm daily from December 26, 2011 to January 7, 2011.

While enjoying your time at the top of one of the New7Wonders of Nature, you can enjoy a meal or drinks at Table Mountain Café or catch up on some Christmas gift shopping at the Shop at the Top.

 

Father Christmas on Table Mountain

This season you can take your children to meet Father Christmas and his helpful Christmas Fairy 1 067 metres above sea level. These characters will be riding the Cableway and sharing a little magic with children at the Lower and Upper Cable Stations on Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25. They can be seen at the Lower Cable Station at 11h00 and at the Upper Cable Station at 12h00. 

Then treat your family to a fuss-free and fun Christmas feast from the highest restaurant in Cape Town. Table Mountain Café will serve a delicious traditional Christmas buffet on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

New Year’s Eve

Table Mountain Cableway offers something special for nature lovers and those wanting a tranquil experience to see the New Year in. Take advantage of the Sunset Special and pay half price to spend an enchanted evening watching the last sunset of 2011 and welcoming in the New Year beneath the stars.

Adults pay R97.50 and children only pay R47.50 for a return ticket. The last car up on December 31, 2011 is at 23h00, and the last car down is at 01h00 on January 1, 2012.

Visitors can bring their own bubbly and picnics with them, or grab a seat at the Table Mountain Café that will extend its operating hours until 00h30 on New Year’s Eve.
