Following an April Fool’s Day joke by Cape Town-Based radio station, Heart 104.9, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway would like to make it clear that locals are still welcome to make use of the Cableway.

“We love and welcome locals!” says Cableway CEO, Sabine Lehmann, in response to the joke.

This morning, the radio station reported that locals would not be allowed to go up the mountain until after the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

Local pensioners will in fact get a discount tomorrow (Friday). Just show your ID and pay R80 instead of R160.

Locals also get a free ticket, on their birthdays, to ride the Cableway. Again, just bring your ID along.
