Annual maintenance almost here!

Table Mountain Cableway will be closed next week, from Monday, August 23, to Friday, August 27, for the replacement of the cable cars’ haul rope.
To meet the highest global cableway standards set by the Swiss Governing Body for Cableways (BAV), the Table Mountain Cableway is required to do annual maintenance, and replaces the haul rope approximately every five years.
And don’t worry: South Africans of 18 years or older who are celebrating a birthday during the maintenance period can still enjoy the Cableway’s birthday special – which allows you to travel up and down the Cableway for free on your birthday – in the week before (this week) or in the week after (August 28 – September 3) the annual maintenance closure. Please ensure that you bring your South African ID along.
In the meantime, you can show your support for the Cableway by voting for Table Mountain as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. It’s fair to say we’ve got a lot more going for us than the ancient, all-but-destroyed original seven wonders …
Or, while you wait for us to reopen, you can fill out our short online survey. We are looking into creating a frequent-user programme that makes visiting the Cableway as often as you like a more affordable experience. We’d love to get your input on what a programme like this should entail – from special offers and digital communication to how much you would be willing to pay.
