Update: Happy birthday to all the leap year babies! Table Mountain Cableway has reopened. We would like to encourage those born on February 29 to come around and pick up their four free Cableway tickets.

Table Mountain Cableway is showing their love for leap-year babies over the age of 18 who miss out on celebrating their birthday every year by offering a special leap year promotion.

The Cableway’s popular Sunset Special is drawing to a close at the end of February. This is your last chance to make the most of warm summer evenings, and purchase half-price return Cableway tickets after 18h00.

The Cableway’s popular Class in the Clouds programme is open for bookings from Wednesday February 1, with classes set to commence on Thursday March 1.

The special day of February 29 is just around the corner and, for the very first time, the Cableway is marking this quirky occasion with a special promotion dedicated to all its visitors born on this elusive day.

To those who were delayed coming down Table Mountain last night because of a technical problem, the Table Mountain Cableway would like to say thank you for your patience. A mechanical fault at the Upper Cable Station necessitated us taking people off the mountain at reduced speed, which meant it took 20 minutes per trip to bring people down, rather than the usual five minutes. This resulted in your long wait at the Upper Cable Station and delay back to the Lower Cable Station.

Everything that is brought up to the top of Table Mountain is considered carefully, in keeping with the Cableway’s strict environmental policies and commitment to supporting local industries.

So far, Jeju Island and the Puerto Princesa underground river have had their New7Wonders status confirmed, and soon Table Mountain will take its official place alongside these beautiful destinations.
