What do these awesome music videos by Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson and Gregor Salto all have in common? All three feature glimpses of our very own Table Mountain – incredible tributes to this wonder of nature.

When the sun is out and the days are warm, a visit to Table Mountain is the perfect way to enjoy the Mother City and take in some fresh air.

The Cableway’s popular Class in the Clouds programme will be open for bookings from Wednesday February 1, with classes set to commence on Thursday March 1.

Being the most prominent landmark, which has kept watch over the Cape for centuries, Table Mountain has always captured the interest of poet and author Kevin Butler. He recently sent us a poem paying homage to our mountain and its majesty.

The Cableway ended 2011 on a high note when it recorded an impressive 116 000 visitors this past December. Table Mountain’s recent New7Wonders of Nature accolade, stretches of good weather conditions, as well as the Cableway’s growing online ticket sales (with shorter ticket office queues as a result) meant that December was an ideal month for visitors to the Mother City’s famous mountain.

The year 2011 was a particularly good year for the Cableway. We hosted record numbers at the summit of one of the newly elected New7Wonders of Nature (visitors included Israeli beauties and WWE superstars), the mountain enjoyed snow for the second year running, and Cape Town even witnessed a curious cloud formation or two. Our Facebook fan page and Twitter profile became very popular and we gained many great new fans!

If you’re looking to ring in the new year from a unique vantage point, the top of Table Mountain offers the perfect experience. From up high, you can put 2011 to rest and welcome 2012 – come make some fresh resolutions (or not!) and absorb the exquisite natural surroundings while getting an eyeful of beautiful Cape Town. Our Sunset Special and meal offerings will complete the enchanted last sunset of 2011. The last car up on December 31, 2011 is at 23h00, and the last car down is at 01h00 on January 1, 2012.

The Cableway is keeping things festive this December, with lots planned for visitors over the Christmas period. Father Christmas is indeed coming to town, and will be visiting the Cableway on Saturday, December 24, and Sunday, December 25.

Congratulations to Shaelene Barna! She is the lucky winner of our December Sunset Special competition – to win, she had to correctly guess the dassie’s December to-dos. Shaelene has won a festive party for 10 in a private venue at the top of Table Mountain.  This prize includes tickets, dinner and drinks.

With the festive season upon us it’s time to relax, spend time with loved ones, soak up some summer sunshine and have fun! With all this in mind, the Cableway has planned a variety of exciting activities and experiences for the family to enjoy.
