Today we join the rest of the world in bidding farewell to Nelson Mandela, the country’s first democratically elected President, who died peacefully at home. Table Mountain had a special place in Nelson Mandela’s heart and it represented a beacon of hope from his prison cell on Robben Island.

For the past 12 years, a dedicated team of volunteer tour guides have given up their time to offer this excellent addition to a cable car trip. Visitors who are keen to explore the top and hear about the incredible biodiversity found on Table Mountain have been able to join the free, twice-daily tours to make the most of their time here.
Buying your tickets for the cableway has never been easier – you can get them for a discounted price online, purchase them from the Lower Cableway Station when you arrive, and now they’re are also available from Cape Town Tourism’s Visitor Information Centre in Burg Street.
